This album would have to be in my top 10 albums. It is a rare album, I have heard no other like it. Shawn Colvin is a fabulous song writer, who plays the Acoustic Guitar and on this album thats all there is; Shawn and her guitar. The atmosphere is so much more intimate because of this, and the emotion through the songs is so much more because of how raw the performance is. Its always my biggest grumbling when an artist gets over produced to the point that you cant connect with the music or the person behind it.

This album is full of gems all the way through. However this is not an album to play in the car or at work. Its is an album to play in solitude, to relax to at the end of the day when the hectic day starts to drift off to sleep. An album where you can let your heart be carried through the melancholy of the songs, the bitter sweet power of the music playing with your heart strings.

I have a connection with this album from when I was going through a bad time some years ago. I would go home, lie down, close my eyes and put this album on, it would move me like no other album could. I often felt like it was churning me inside, stirring up all the feelings I had blocked inside, yet it would make me feel alive. It helped me through that time, and whenever I listen to it a new, the shadows of those feelings brush against me.

A very special album.
